 | Aviation Safeguards Workers Win Campaign to Join SEIU Local 1877

After a long battle, Aviation Safeguards workers won their union at airports in Oakland and San Jose, joining thousands of airport workers across the state of California in SEIU Local 1877-AIRPORT WORKERS UNITED. Victory was achieved through widespread and ongoing support from ally organizations. Leading the charge of community support were EBASE and the Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice (ICWJ). |
 | Putting Oakland to Work
A new report, titled "Putting Oakland to Work: A Comprehensive Strategy to Create Real Jobs for Residents," published November 16th by EBASE and the Oakland NetWork for Responsible Development (ONWRD) shows that extreme income disparity, sky-rocketing housing costs, extensive joblessness, and poverty-level wages threaten Oakland's economic stability and resident prosperity. "Putting Oakland to Work" also shows how the city can lift its residents out of poverty with a new economic development strategy focused on creating quality jobs. |
